Journal Prompts for Procrastination:
Hey Fam,
We’ve all been there—the To Do list grows while we find anything else to do but the tasks on it. This week, I wanted to bring a little encouragement and self-reflection to help you dive into those moments of procrastination and get to the root of them. These journal prompts are here to offer some perspective and help you discover what’s holding you back. Take a few minutes with these and see what comes up!
"What tasks or areas of my life do I tend to put off the most, and why?"
Reflect on any patterns. Are there specific types of tasks you avoid? Recognizing these can reveal some underlying reasons."What emotions come up for me when I think about the things I’ve been putting off?"
Notice if it’s anxiety, boredom, insecurity, etc., that’s blocking your path forward."What’s one small step I can take toward each task, and how would it feel to complete that first step?"
Sometimes the smallest steps make a big difference. Visualize the relief that follows."How would it feel if I completed all my pending tasks, and what would my life look like?"
Visualize the end result! This can boost motivation and highlight the benefits."When was a time I overcame procrastination, and what strategies helped?"
Draw from past wins. Maybe there’s a tactic that worked then that can work now!"What’s my biggest reason for wanting to overcome procrastination?"
Anchor your motivation in something meaningful—less stress, more free time, confidence boost?"What would I do with the extra time and energy I gain from reducing procrastination?"
Think about how you’d reward yourself and enjoy the benefits of getting tasks done."What beliefs do I hold about myself and my productivity, and are they true?"
Challenge any negative thoughts, like “I’m lazy” or “I work best under pressure.”"If I knew I couldn’t fail, how would I approach this task differently?"
Imagine how you’d move forward without the fear of failure."How can I bring a sense of fun or enjoyment to tasks I usually put off?"
Make tasks enjoyable! Consider using a timer, music, or a small reward.
I hope these prompts bring you closer to tackling any areas where you’re feeling stuck and help you create more flow in your day.
How do you approach procrastination?
